Frequently Asked Questions

What information does this tool show?
It displays: page count, total file size, title, author, subject, PDF creator application, PDF producer, creation date, modification date, and the width and height of each page in both points and millimeters.
Does my PDF get uploaded to a server?
No. All metadata is read locally in your browser using pdf-lib. Your PDF file never leaves your device.
Why does my PDF show no metadata fields?
Many PDFs are created without embedded metadata (title, author, etc.). This is common for scanned documents and exported files. Page count and dimensions are always available as they are structural properties of the PDF format.
What is a 'point' in PDF page dimensions?
PDF dimensions are measured in typographic points. 1 point = 1/72 inch ≈ 0.353 mm. A standard A4 page is 595 × 842 points (210 × 297 mm). A US Letter page is 612 × 792 points (215.9 × 279.4 mm).
